 Application & Fitness

Our Monday and Wednesday evening classes are the practical side of the art. This is partner work,  pad work,  partner drills and application — for people who want skill they can feel working, and the fitness that comes with training it.

First hour — fundamentals

Footwork, hitting pads, distance, timing, the right attitude, and simple application. The working basics of the art. Every session carries a fitness component, so you are building condition while you build skill.

Second hour — intermediate and advanced

After some time Students are welcome to join the intermediate / advanced class. 

The partner work deepens. Sensitivity drills, the soft skills, conditioning, more demanding exchanges, and the start of real pressure testing. The aim is not to spar for its own sake. It is to build skill that holds when a partner stops cooperating.

If the practical, physical side of kung fu is what you are after, this is a straightforward place to begin. It is also half of a complete art — in time it is worth meeting the other half.
